Step 1. Get a great set of headphones. Sinnhauser or something really great. Get what an audiophile gets. I don’t know much about it, but when you experience the difference it’s apparent.
Step 2. Play Mahler Symphony No. 1 and listen to the entirety of it while rotating lying on your back on a nice carpet and sitting up, optionally leaning against a wall. You can be as upright or relaxed as you want because you’re at home and not in the car. Maybe you’re on a long-distance train trip; that’s fine, too.
Step 3. Keep listening. Listen to the entire thing.
Step 4. Do the same with Mahler Symphony No. 5 after a week-long break.
Step 5. Repeat
